Old-Fashioned Hard Candy – Mirabelle Plum

Some recipes tell a story. This one also carries a heritage.

Mirabelle holds a very special place in our collection because it connects directly with the roots of our chocolatier, Ludovic, who was born in Lorraine, France.

I wanted to create a candy that could transport people somewhere else, a flavour that reflects a region where mirabelle is much more than a fruit: it is a tradition, a symbol, and a childhood memory for many.

Its delicate, floral, and slightly honeyed flavour brings a refined elegance to this confection. It is a flavour that often sparks curiosity at first, then becomes a favourite among customers looking for something truly different.

I love this recipe because it represents exactly what we love creating at Chocolat Boréal: products made here, inspired by elsewhere, but always crafted with our own story and Québec savoir-faire.

Handcrafted in our chocolate factory in Québec using natural flavours and naturally sourced colours, this candy offers a local alternative to imported confectionery. It is available in two complementary formats: our elegant metal tin, perfect as a gift, souvenir, or collectible item, and our larger transparent pouch, ideal for refilling candy jars or replenishing the tin at home.

Together, these two formats answer different purchasing moments: the tin becomes a gift or keepsake that catches attention, while the pouch allows customers to easily enjoy more of their favourite flavour and extend the experience. When ordered by the case, our tins come in ready-to-display integrated countertop displays that create a beautiful visual impact in-store.

At Chocolat Boréal, we believe a generous assortment does more than enhance your offering: it reassures your customers, builds purchasing habits, and supports the continuity of your sales. That’s why we encourage you to reorder before running out, so every purchase already creates the desire for your customer to come back for the next one.

Every day this flavour is missing from your assortment is an opportunity for sales and customer loyalty that you are leaving to a competitor. Order now.

From our family, to yours.

For over twenty years, Ludovic Fresse has been an independant master chocolatier.

With his wife Florence, they started Chocolat Boréal in 2017, as a small business engaged in its community, with values that would represent them and that would make their children, Édouard and Claire, proud.

The aim of Chocolat Boréal is to transmit the passion and know-how of fine chocolate making to future generations, while having the smallest environmental impact possible.

Don't just take our word for it.
